Saturday long runs — stacks that reward a full evening
RPGs, grand strategy, and the simulation shelf: the weekend is where they earn it.
There’s a specific kind of game that never wins a weeknight and always wins a Saturday — the kind that opens a UI and asks you to stay for three hours. Nothing wrong with that; it just means the rotation has to put them in the right slot.
Long RPG sit-downs
Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn is the format archetype. Icewind Dale, Persona 4, Kingdom Hearts, Xenoblade Chronicles X all live here. You’re not starting them at 10pm — the curtain goes up around 6:30pm and the credits stay dark for the night.
Grand strategy Saturday
Civilization VI, Empire: Total War, StarCraft II. The shortest match is still an hour; the serious campaign is an evening plus. We don’t put these in the Tuesday rotation; we refuse to set them up for failure.
Simulation long-runs
Motorsport Manager Mobile 2 and Football Manager Live are the outliers — they can be short or long, depending on how deep you go into the week’s fixtures. On a Saturday we let them go long.
We keep two long-run titles queued on the weekend at any given time, so if one isn’t matching the mood, the other is already warmed up. The queue page makes it easy to move titles between nights.
